Labware Mnist
At Opentrons Labworks I explored methods of utilizing the in built camera to perform error correction tasks to reduce human error. I was a large contributor to the setup user experience and scientists often ran into issues with setting up the lab ware exactly (many of the clear plastic containers look very similar), resulting in expensive wasted chemicals and reagents. Even worse, important samples could be damaged during this error. To prevent this, I built a demo of a “MNIST” labware classifier to be able to identify proper lab ware placement before running a protocol.
